Since opening our doors in 2008, AOC Salon has been a learning hub, where countless talented stylists have launched their careers. As part of the Virginia Apprenticeship program since 2009, we've proudly guided many up-and-coming salon apprentices from their first steps in the industry to full-time positions on our floor and beyond. These stylists are now thriving, consistently creating beautiful, high-quality hair and memorable experiences for their loyal clients.

We also collaborate with local beauty schools and Virginia VOTECH, offering graduates the chance to further develop their skills before they begin their full-time journey behind the chair. Our commitment to ongoing education within our salon’s walls allows us to quickly build up our apprentices, enhancing their confidence and honing their skills to meet our rigorous standards. At AOC, we pride ourselves on the quality, integrity, and excellence of our services, and our unwavering focus on providing the highest quality of mentorship and education is no exception.

Dalbe markman: A Leader in Salon Education and Mentorship

After spending 15 years working as an actress, singer, and dancer in the film/television industry in New York City, Dalbe Markman’s journey into the world of hair began with a strong desire to channel her endless creativity into serving others. Licensed in 2003, she completed an 18-month apprenticeship and further honed her skills under renowned NYC stylists and colorists Thomas Heinz and Laurie Foley.

In 2007, Dalbe moved to Virginia Beach where she founded AOC Salon, driven by her passion for education and excellence. Her commitment to continuous learning led her to become a regional Davines color educator and a member of the Davines North American Cutting Team, where she played a pivotal role in establishing AOC Salon as the first Davines concept salon in Hampton Roads. Today, AOC Salon has expanded to two locations, with a team of 30+ employees, and offers regular advanced training to ensure the highest standards of service.

As an educator and mentor, Dalbe has guided numerous apprentices, partnering with Virginia VOTECH and local beauty schools to build up young talent. Her advanced training includes intensive cutting courses with Allilon Education in London under the direction of Johnny Othona and Pedro Inchenko. Through Davines North America and the amazing Allilon team of educators, Dalbe continued her education journey with 4 intensive weeks of Primary Shapes, Mechanics and Teacher training, further solidifying her expertise.

Dalbe’s influence extends even beyond the salon. She has assisted international artistic directors such as Angelo Seminara and Anna Paccitto, sharing her knowledge and passion with her team and the broader community. Despite all of her prestigious accomplishments, one of her proudest moments was when she had the opportunity to spend time in Cambodia with the Justice and Soul Foundation, helping to train survivors of sex trafficking in the art of hairdressing.

Known for her compassionate and encouraging teaching style, Dalbe is dedicated to seeing others grow and succeed, particularly young women. She continues to challenge herself and inspire her team to always push boundaries and exceed expectations.
